Directors


Helen Burton

Our CEO Helen has a background in social care and has many years of experience as a community campaigner, having established several local projects. In 2016, she was runner up in the Eastbourne Achievers Award for contribution to the community and won the Business Women’s Excellence Award in 2018 for services to the community. She was a Pevensey Parish Councillor for four years and is now an Eastbourne Borough Councillor and Deputy Mayor of Eastbourne.

Daniel Brookbank

Daniel’s main employment is as Chief Executive, of East Sussex Association of Blind & Partially Sighted People (ESAB). Daniel has worked in the Voluntary and Community sector for the past 25 years. During that time, he has run General Practice’s, worked for various Primary Care Trusts and in the last seven years been the Chief Executive of East Sussex Vision Support. His role encompasses charity law, employment matters, contracting, fundraising, networking and direct working with vulnerable people.

Peter Finnis

Peter is a former Corporate Director across both Eastbourne Borough and Lewes District Councils. In a local government career spanning 40 years, Peter specialised in matters of local democracy and constitutional governance but, at various points in his career, also had overall responsibility for emergency planning, strategic development, equality, human resources and public relations.

Gabrielle and Frank (Skip) Yetter

Gabi and Skip are authors and former journalists who moved to Eastbourne in 2018 after living and volunteering in Cambodia for four years. During their time in Phnom Penh, they worked with Cambodian NGOs, providing English resource assistance and consulting with local organizations. Prior to Cambodia, they lived in Massachusetts, USA, where they worked in media (Skip was Senior Vice President of Global Sales for the global newswire service, Business Wire, and former Publisher of Community Newspapers, Boston, and Gabi managed the Washington DC and London offices for Business Wire before starting her own small business).

Lorri Dodd

Office Manager

Lorri has many years of experience as a volunteer supporting the Eastbourne community, having volunteered for Chestnut Tree House and RVS in the past. She joined Volunteers Network almost at the start of the project, and has become an invaluable team member since then.

Emma Riley

Social Media Coordinator

Emma has volunteered within the Eastbourne community for over 5 years and is involved with several community projects within the area including Willingdon Trees Community Centre, and at Demelza charity shop. Emma’s main expertise is in social media, where she utilises her degree in Digital Media from the University of Brighton.

Emma Fielding

Langney Facilities Manager

Emma is an ex-teacher with a gift for crafts and creativity. She maintains Langney Community Centre and organises our events and activities.

Sally Lee

Grow Eastbourne Coordinator

Sally has been volunteering with environmental projects for many years and is a perfect fit to lead our Grow Eastbourne project. She has a passion for food growing and community building and is a keen environmentalist. Sally is currently undertaking a Diploma in Health Science and will help to ensure our work in the community always maintains a wellbeing focus.

Project Volunteers


We have an amazing team of volunteers at Pevensey Community Library and Langney Community Centre who are vital to the work we are able to do within our community. We also have many telephone befrienders who came forward to volunteer within our telephone befriending service during the covid crisis and continue to make regular calls to the friends they have made through our project.
